Well, it's another slow day. The rate of rehab is slow at this point so I haven't had much to report lately. I was up late last night (11pm) watching a movie with William Holden fighting WW II. The Devil's Brigade. Das Teufel Brigada. And the Sunday funnies haven't been delivered yet. And my a&%$ is sore from sitting so much.
My routine includes a daily walk around the 'big block.' Each day I try to go a little bit faster. In the last week the rhythm has increased as my stride gets quicker. The iPod helps keep things on track.
I released the carcass of the plane to the scrap dealer. A sad day at Flabob. It turns out that another pilot at Flabob tried to take off without a thorough preflight. He tried 3 times and was able to safely abort the first 2. Then he took off the third time, got about 100 feet in the air and the engine quit again. He walked away but the beautiful Ercoupe was totalled. Another lucky stupido piloto!
Remember: We're all on this flight together.

Hi Dick,
It's been a while. I've read back a few weeks. It sounds like you're having a few blue days. To be expected. You have finally come through all the hard work and the physical trauma. Life has slowed down to day to day normal. Now I imagine that more emotions are going to surface. My advice is to roll with it, but no rolling in it OK. I'm glad you are sharing both the ups and downs.
Tom and I are doing well. We got away to Big Sur a few weeks ago. We stayed at The Big Sur Lodge in Phiffer State Park. It was beautiful and we did a 7+ mile hike. The first since Tom's by-pass. Tom is getting ready to send all the paper work to the FAA to see if they will give him a medical again. He hopes to get up in the air on his own again.
Hey, Tom said who was the second wife. He only knew of one.
Hope you treat yourself kindly and do something nice each day.
Love,
Maryanne
I spent time with and married a woman 25 years younger than I in the late 70's. She challenged me and kept me young in a lot of ways but it wasn't meant to be in the long run. I still haven't figured out this relationship thing.
