I spoke on the telephone yesterday with old friend Kathy. She had previously offered to get me a ticket to see Willie Nelson in Reno. It didn't work out so the trip to Reno is off for now. Oh well, win some lose some.
I forgot to take my vicodin this morning before the walk. Feeling lazy I chose not to participate in the walk today. Beside that I have little to say.
The book on symmetry has lost me. He goes off track and writes of someone of whom I had never even heard. Evariste Galois. Who? He was a mathematician around at the time of the French Revolution. He was killed in a duel at age 26 but had already done some pioneering work in symmetry and group theory.
Then came back to his discussion of group theory and I was LOST. I read the pages three times but nothing sank in. So I put the book down. I'll get back to it .... and maybe not. I have a book on the number ZERO that I'll try to read.
Unread books are an indication that we're all on this flight together.
