Thursday Evening
His vital signs are great, but getting off the vent is taking some time. Today he got out of bed and took a couple of steps with the walker. He writes a lot when I arrive with the white board, some of which I don't understand. He said that he wants me to go out to Flabob this Sunday, and he tried to write "non-negotiable". That took about 20 minutes to write. Then he pointed to himself and drew a wheelchair. I think he wants me to wheel him into the EAA chapter meeting. He keeps asking for juice and coffee, and wants me to bring him his iPod. I'm charging it up now.

Another giant step forward. (no pun intended) Here I was hoping to hear that they finally allowed him to sit in a chair, and you write that he has taken a few steps with a walker. Awesome news.
Now that they seem to have the pneumonia situation under control, I'm guessing that they will become more agressive at trying to get him off the vent.
Will Rick be able to get down for another visit anytime soon?
When is Deb going to take some time out, and do something just for Deb?
Cousin Carole
Rick will be down again soon. We're trying to figure out what the best time is for that. I think it's better to wait until he's out of the ICU. Visits in the ICU are very limited, because there's not much space. When he gets out to the main ward, he will need more company and for longer. Rick should come down then, so they can hang out together.
Me, I'm doing ok. I went to yoga last night, my second of three classes I'll do this week. I went to the Santa Monica farmers market on Wednesday. It was a beautiful day, and I bought lettuce, radishes, squash, pears, walnuts, yams, brussel sprouts, oranges, grapefruit and dried cherries.
