Welcome, Dick Hein's Family & Friends

My name is Deborah Testa, and I am Dick Hein's daughter.

You probably know by know that my father, who has always loved civil aviation and who in recent years rediscovered his passion for flying, crashed in the Sonex plane he built. He is alive but injured, and is in the ICU at a Kaiser facility, scheduled for surgery today.

I am creating this blog as a place where I can post updates about his condition, and where his friends and family can post comments, questions, good wishes, etc. In later posts I will try to bring the story of his crash up to date. That way, as we share this blog with Dick's circle, people can read back to learn what happened. When he's back to full strength, he can read back through our posts and comments and see what happened.

Please feel free to add your comments.

Great idea Deb. This will make things alot easier on folks on both sides of the country. At least we know were to look for the latest information. Trying to keep everyone up to date is an impossible task.

Rest assured. Uncle Dick knows that you and Ricky are there. He may be in and out of it, but he is aware. He'll tell you about it in the upcoming weeks. Be careful about what you say! He will remember it. (and bring it up when you least expect it!!!)

Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, Ricky, Dad (Uncle Bob) and your Dad.

Hang in there folks.

Deborah and Ricky - Thanks for thinking of this. Bob gets the word out but this is a much more direct way of touching base. Everything that you write will be read and re-read at this end. Prayers are sent for Dick and for the two of you. I cannot see how managing all this can be easy, so my thoughts are with you also. There is no training for caring for a parent...especially when it comes out of the blue. No pun intended.

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for setting up the Blog. I heard the news at Flabob yesterday. I've seen Dick working on the Sonex several times but never introduced myself. My dad was in a bad car accident in 1974, so I know some of what you are dealing with.

I hope he continues the good progress.

Deb & Rick,
Best wishes and prayers from Mass.
Hopefully soon your fathers free spirit will be soaring again. Know that we are all pulling for a full and speedy recovery.
