The funny papers are in color so.... the Riverside Airshow must have been yesterday. It was and I went. On the left is the bad-ass F-15. On the right is the last iteration of the venerable DC-3. Two planes from two eras. There were very few light planes that flew in from other airports because the wind was 20 knots gusting to 25 knots. That's a pretty stiff breeze. The professional sky divers who were scheduled to open the show decided it was too dangerous to jump in these winds and the fliers could each decide whether or not they would fly. No-one knew what was happening until it happened. All of the heavy metal flew but most needed wing walkers to hold the wings down while taxiing. Pictures over the next few days.
I left before the afternoon show because of the wind although it was nice sitting in the sun through the morning show, I was glad I had brought a jacket.
Airshows are fun even when they're not.
Aerobatics in a Taylorcraft is proof that we're all this flight together.
